Perrygreek & Others, thanks for the update on the recent temperatures up there. They just point out why I should have been up there this month. Here in the Dallas area we have had something like 23 straight days of over 100. That string has now been broken and hopefully real football weather is on its way. Go Cowboys. I still love the webcams and thanks to those who maintain them. Any chance we might have some additional ones some day?

Festival Fairbanks

Fairbanks set a new high temperature record Sunday (8/15) with a temperature of 91 degrees at Fairbanks International Airport. The previous record for Sunday was 86 degrees in 1926.The 91-degree reading also set a new modern (post-1930) record for the latest 90-degree day on record.

The old record was set on Aug. 5, 1994 with a temperature of 91 degrees. The latest 90-degree temperature on record is 90 degrees on Aug. 20, 1923, but that is not considered official.

Sunday marked only the fifth time since 1904 that the temperature in Fairbanks hit 90 degrees in August.

It was the second time in two summers that the temperature hit the 90-degree mark at the airport. The temperature hit 91 degrees on July 8 last year, the first time it reached that high in 15 years.

Wow, I see that it is 87 today in Fairbanks. What is the record high for the summer in Fairbanks? Anyway, I still wish I was back there since we have had 20 straight days of over 100 here in the Dallas area. Stay cool everyone.
